Burger takeaway in Leicester: collect or delivered?
For the crispest burger, collect it. For the easiest night in, have it delivered. At DesiSmash, collection is always free, delivery is available within 3 miles of our Leicester kitchen, and either way your burger is smashed fresh for your chosen slot.
Burger takeaways come in two forms: you go and get it, or it comes to you. Each has advantages, and the right choice depends on how far away you are and how you like your burger. Here is how to choose, and how DesiSmash handles both.
Collection: freshest and free
Collecting is the shortest route from griddle to you, so it is the best way to get a crisp crust and a hot, melted centre.
- Pros: hottest food, no delivery fee, and you can eat it quickly.
- Cons: you have to travel, and you need to be on time for your slot.
- At DesiSmash: collection is always free. You pick a 30-minute slot, we confirm on WhatsApp, and you pay when you collect.
Delivery: easiest at home
Delivery means no travel, and it suits families, groups and bad weather.
- Pros: you stay at home, and you can order for a group in one go.
- Cons: a short wait in the bag, and a delivery fee.
- At DesiSmash: delivery is available within 3 miles of our kitchen and priced by distance, so closer addresses pay less. Enter your postcode in the delivery calculator to see your exact fee before you send the order.

Which keeps a burger crisper?
Collection, by a small margin, because there is less time between the griddle and your plate. But a delivered smash burger can still be excellent if you do a few simple things:
- Be ready when your slot arrives.
- Eat the fries first, as they lose crunch fastest.
- Open the bag lid slightly if you must wait, so steam can escape.
- Use dip pots, so sauce goes on as you eat.

Why pre-ordering helps either way
Because we are a pre-order kitchen, every order is cooked for its slot rather than made in advance and held. That matters more for burgers than almost any other takeaway food, since a burger loses crispness as it waits. Read the steps in how to pre-order smash burgers.
When is a burger takeaway available?
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm, with last orders at 10:00 pm.
- Other days: we prep sauces and spice blends, so we do not take orders.
What to order for a takeaway
- For one: a burger and seasoned fries, as a meal with a can.
- For two: two burgers, one loaded fries to share and a couple of dip pots.
- For a group: one basket, one slot. See ordering for a group or family.
